Job Overview
Assist staff with providing, managing, and coordinating high-quality risk and insurance services to the University on multiple unrelated matters rapidly, accurately, and effectively, consistent with the expectations of the Directors, their designee(s), and University stakeholders.
This position has opportunity for career development and advancement within the department.
This role is focused primarily on traditional risk and insurance functions rather than enterprise risk managment.
Essential Functions
Assist in the underwriting and management of the University's medical malpractice self-insurance, including the management of internal insurance operations and issuance and reconciliation of internal medical malpractice billing.
Assist in the financial operations of the department using the University's accounting and financial systems and the University's risk management information system. Review, reconcile and disseminate financial statements to appropriate stakeholders.
Research and complete underwriting information and insurance applications, evaluate insurance proposals, internally allocate insurance premiums, and pay commercial or external insurance premiums.
Assist in claims' investigation and provide guidance on coverage, terms, and conditions to university stakeholders.
Effectively communicate, work cooperatively, and interact comfortably with a diverse community and with multiple constituencies including administrators, staff, faculty, students, trustees, external professionals, and vendors.
Assist in the office operations of the department.
Perform administrative functions of the department and other duties as assigned. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement

Technical skills: Administrative and financial duties including use and administration of RMIS and SAP based systems; knowledge of commercial property & casualty insurance products; insurance operations; finance; account management; underwriting; and industry trends.

Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) is ideal

Competitive salary range from $55,000 - $65,000 dependent on the candidate's experience.
